ARE MARKS A FAIR SYSTEM TO JUDGE A STUDENTS POTENTIAL?

We all know the exam systems prevailing in our country. Do you think getting good grades a fair system to judge the potential of a student? I don’t feel so. Though academics play a vital role in a person’s life, not only based on marks can we rate a person? I feel talent plays a vital role in an individual’s life.

Human beings are different from each other. Their interests, likes and dislikes, talents, everything differs from one individual to another. Do we have to check the grades of a musician or a dancer? When they can amaze us with their talents and they are leading a successful life, does it matter? Likewise, we cannot rate a doctor as the best because of their academic achievements. We need doctors, musicians, dancers, scientists, police, lawyers, and all other professionals in our world. Every job role matters. Tomorrow, if there are no farmers, who will provide us food? There should be someone who cultivates crops.

I feel we have to treat everyone the same way. Respect people as they are. The necessity of studies is to make a child aware of social responsibilities, how to lead a good life, good manners, moral values. If you study, nobody can exploit you. With education, we can instill many good qualities into a child and mold him/her to a better socially responsible individual. If we focus on grades alone, we fail to nurture the talents of our young generation. Parents should understand this. They have to observe their child and identify whether they have any special talents. Then motivate them to work on that. Don’t pressurize your children to attain good marks. Instead, teach them good qualities and make them socially responsible human beings. They will make you proud in the future.
