Once you are into college, your life takes a drastic turn from the normal routine. You may be staying with your parents or away from them in a college hostel. You are no longer going to be under your parent’s care. Therefore, it is a time where you have to take responsibility. You have to take responsibility for your health, studies, nutrition, etc. Being on a busy schedule, most of the students are careless about these factors. You will have full-day classes, then tuitions or any other extracurricular activities, you can be tired of traveling or you may have to do assignments or projects for college, etc. Let us discuss a few areas which you have to take care

  1. Nutrition - Consuming meals thrice a day won’t meet the requirements. You have to consume healthy and nutritious food. Students who stay away from home tend to depend on hotel foods. If that’s the case, try to have homely meals. Avoid regular intake of sweetened drinks, sodas, lattes, etc. Watch the quantity of food intake. Include more fruits and vegetables in your diet plan. It will keep you healthy.
  2. Exercise and fitness - In any phase of your life, you have to find time for exercise. Regular exercise can keep you healthy and fit. It will boost your immunity also. Keeping your body active is a vital part of taking care of yourself. Try to do at least 2 and a half hours of moderate-intensity exercise every week. It’s not necessary to go and hit the gym. You can go walking or jogging or participate in any sports activities.
  3. Stress Management - Stress is a common problem faced by the majority of us. It can invite many issues like headaches, illness, insomnia, decreased productivity, etc. Long term stress can contribute to heart problems, obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure. You may be able to diagnose stress by symptoms like loss of appetite, irritability, rapid heartbeat, upset stomach, headache, etc. You have to accept that you are under stress. Then adopt measures to relieve stress. You can do meditation, engage in any activity of your interest, talk to your friends, take long breaths, go to a peaceful atmosphere, etc to get relief. If you feel too stressed, you can take the help of a professional therapist.

Many college students end up in lower hours of sleep due to academic work or studies. This is not recommendable. Your body needs proper rest and sleep to function properly. Like all the other supplements, sleep is also an inevitable requirement. Set your room accordingly by which you get adequate sleep. Before going to sleep, finish all homework for the next day so that you can sleep peacefully.
