CHALLENGES FACED BY TEACHERS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

We all know that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought disruptions in the entire learning system across the world. Many universities/institutions totally cancelled the exams. Some choose to ascertain marks on the basis of student performance throughout the year. Not only students face challenges in prevailing situations, but teachers are also subject to a lot of challenges.

Teachers are an integral part of a curriculum. They influence a student in both their educational and behavioural aspects. Primarily, a teacher acts as a role model for the students with their vast knowledge and calm and composed nature. It is a divine thing to be a teacher. Teachers play a vital role in inspiring the students, building confidence in them and in showing them the right path.

Teachers are being inflicted by the pandemic of Covid-19. The digitised classroom platforms like zoom, google meet, WebEx sprung up in the meantime. They had to shift to a new teaching profile rapidly. This is a challenge for them to convert all their teaching materials into digital format on short-notice. Many of the teachers are not tech-savvy. This is also a concern for them. Likewise, though digitised platforms bring students and teachers on a common platform, each one of them is subjected to external distractions. It is a great challenge for them to draw the continuous attention of students to the subject from such distractions. The other challenge is network issues. Teachers and students face severe network issues during the class which also jeopardise a tranquil atmosphere for taking the class. Teachers used to conduct surprise tests to analyse whether students are carrying out their studies properly or not. In the present scenario, it is not possible. If possible, not effective as was in a normal exam.

Though teachers face all these challenges, they are trying their best to create a synthetic classroom and provide all the comfort to the students.
