Kochi: The B.Voc (Bachelor of Vocation) course has been approved by the Kerala Public Service Commission. UGC has introduced the B.Voc course as part of the new education policy of the Central Government gives priority to skill development. However, this course is offered only in a few colleges in Kerala. Therefore, students rely on educational institutions outside Kerala to do this course.

Universities in Kerala did not issue equivalency certificates due to the non-recognition of PSC. Pointing to these issues, N.A. Nellikunnu
in a reply to MLA's letter dated June 23, PSC informed that a B.Voc degree has been included as a qualification for the posts requiring a degree qualification.

B.Voc is a three-year degree course designed to provide a graduate education based on the syllabus that prioritizes practical training in
gaining skills in a field of aptitude. Emphasis is placed on training to gain proficiency in the field of work in which 60 percent of the syllabus is selected. The B.Voc course enables students to get employment or start their own business immediately after completing the course.
