The world is in a phase of challenges and changes. Yes, you are right, Covid-19 is the celebrity now. The presence of a virus could create an immense impact on the total working system of the world. The thought of it brings a fear among us which influences us to stay home. Have you ever imagined experiencing all these? A world with restrictions on everything and everywhere? I have never thought of it. It put a brake on our freedom. Though we are fighting dynamically, it made many things irreversible or uncertain to say when things will be back to normal.

Out of the many challenges faced due to Covid-19, one of the main challenges is faced by the educational sector. We can’t let our children attend schools and colleges in a pandemic struck situation. It’s not right to put their life at risk. Then, what about this academic year? How to safeguard the future of our students? Wasting a year is also not the right choice. Now, the new normal is the trend. Hence, the educational departments came up with an idea of an online education system for the time being.

With the help of the internet and a computer or a mobile device, education is made available to students in their homes. There are plenty of apps that offer an efficient platform to conduct classes online with various features. Zoom, Google Meet, WebEx are few examples. These apps create a synthetic classroom experience where teachers and students can view and interact with each other, though they are physically miles apart from each other. Isn’t it amazing? Thanks to technology, which has a solution to all our problems.

The study materials and recordings of classes will also be shared with students. In case any doubts arise, they can recheck the videos and clarify their doubts. Few of these apps also provide the data of students' attentiveness in the class. This will let the teacher ensure the effectiveness of classes. Few apps also have the feature to launch exams and view scores rapidly. The only constraints are weak internet signal, lack of technical knowledge, lack of infrastructure, and outside distractions. However, we are trying to tame all these and provide an effective learning experience for our students. The teachers are also being familiarised with these applications.

The students are directed to be in a room with minimal distractions. The parents are also involved in one way or the other and they are also able to track the performance of their children. Different funny and interesting activities are also given to students, to drive their input and interest. Frequent intervals are given to avoid discomfort or health issues in students. Teachers are also advised to understand the difficulties faced by students since it is a new medium for them and diligently tackle those issues.

Another system of education is launching video classes on television whose timings will be intimated to students. Facilities have been arranged for students who couldn’t afford to attend this system of education. Here, the time tables of subjects and different grades have been circulated and few TV channels will broadcast the classes accordingly.

We at Empire College of Science, Malappuram, the best paramedical college in Kerala, adopted the new normal methods to continue providing classes to our students and safeguard their future.

All efforts are being made to safeguard the future of our students. Let’s adapt to the new normal and hope for a strong comeback. Maybe this induced the reforms which were inevitable for us. Maybe this is teaching us some lessons. Whatever difficulties come across, we will strive hard to achieve our goals and move forward. Let’s hope our scientists and officials will be successful in inventing medicines soon and to chase out the celebrity out of our world.
