Advanced care paramedics are those level of paramedics who are responsible for taking care and assessing a patient's medical condition to determine the condition and extent of the patient's injury or illness, thereby able to give the primary medical care or to refer them to the doctors for further care. They are the ones who are able to provide advanced and immediate care for needy patients. They do their duties and carry out the roles within a defined scope of practice that includes the provision of advanced life support procedures such as intubation and suturing.

Advanced paramedics offer a high level of clinical skills and leadership to help patients and support colleagues. They co-ordinate and provide clinical advice for some of the more complex incidents we attend, whilst also being responsible for a team of senior paramedics. They have to practice all sorts of relevant clinical skills and non-clinical functions during the study period. They also ensure study volunteers are efficiently monitored and safety requirements or actions are implemented as necessary. They are supposed to ensure documentation. They provide instruction and support while working with various team members They are supposed to protect the subjects’ privacy and confidentiality. They assist with all kinds of hospital functions like admission, discharge, and study room procedures. They communicate effectively with subjects and other team members. They are meant to ensure a safe environment for all staff.
